Welcome to Year 3!

Your teachers this year are Mrs Selling, Mrs Turnbull and Mrs Wall.

As you are no doubt aware Year 3 is the first year group in Key Stage 2, or those of you old enough to remember, the juniors.  As such, expectations are high and the children are expected to become increasingly independent and take responsibility for their actions, such as remembering homework and always having their PE kit in school!

We aim to provide excellence and enjoyment in Year 3 by fostering a creative curriculum and providing the children with first hand experiences - our first topic is the Romans and our first visit to the Roman Fort Arebia is in early October.

In Year 3 children will have weekly Literacy and Maths homework along with spellings, reading and times tables to learn throughout the year.  Please record any reading in your child's school planner.

The children will also be given one page of  Maths and English each week.  Literacy is set on a MONDAY and Maths will be set on a THURSDAY, the books should be returned each week for this day.  Spellings are given on a weekly basis and the test is on a MONDAY.

If there are any problems regarding any aspect of school we are available most mornings from 8:30am until 8:50am and after school most nights to speak with and we are here to help, nothing is too trivial when it concerns the happiness and welfare of a child.  We want Year 3 to be an enjoyable year, when the children are enjoying we in turn enjoy our work so please do not hesitate to speak to any of the three teachers.

We are looking forward to working with you all.
