Year Four
Thursday 4th March
Well done to Josh, Amy M, Lewis C and Ben C for sending in a photograph of cutting their pizza into quarters at home! A special well done to Matthew B whose Mum made him a pie to cut up - it looked delicious! He cut it into eighths! Thank you to Mrs Whickham and Mrs Lamb for giving up their afternoon to help us to make the pizzas!

Hello!
We hope you are enjoying the snow!
Your tasks for today are as follows:
Literacy
Write a diary entry explaining your day. Remember to think about
· What you did
· How you felt
· What you hope to do tomorrow
Please remember to include as much detail as possible. Think about the targets which we set you on Tuesday. How you can incorporate these into your diary entries?
Numeracy
Measure the width of your garden/yard/street in foot spans. Record this measurement.
Use this to answer the following questions:
If your next door neighbour’s garden is exactly the same. What is the width of the two gardens put together?
If you have ten houses in your street, with exactly the same dimensions, what would the width of all ten gardens be?
How could you use this to calculate 100 gardens?
Remember to think about your strategies for multiplying by 10 and 100.
Build a snowman. How many different measurements can you create e.g. length of body, length of nose etc.
House points for those who bring their work in on Monday!!!
Have fun and stay safe,
From
Miss Burn, Mrs Brown and Mrs Williams
Well you lucky children, hope you've managed to fit in a bit of sledging - no broken bones please!!!!
Just in case you are missing school we would like you to try to complete some of this work - house points will be given to children who bring in their work!!!! (No parents doing the work while the children play out please!!!!)
Write down 50 words associated with SNOW - remember to check your spelling though - any mis-spelt words will not count!
Write a poem about a snow storm
Look in a newspaper, watch the weather report or use the internet and list the temperature of 10 different places in the world today. Copy the names correctly.
If I buy a new pair of gloves for £2.25, how much change will I get from £5.00?
If I buy 3 cakes for 35p each, how much change will I get from a £2 coin?
There you are - do the best you can!!!

Year Four
Welcome to Year Four
Your Y4 teachers this year are Mrs Williams in one class and Mrs Brown and Miss Burn in the other class.
All year groups in the school from Year 1 upwards set the children for Numeracy and Literacy. Teachers particularly like this as they can plan work aimed more accurately at the level of the group. These groups are fluid at all times and children are assessed on a regular basis and change groups accordingly.
Mrs. Williams teaches Art for the year group and Mrs. Brown teaches ICT for the year group.
In Year Four we are looking at the following topics this academic year, The Rainforest, The Titanic and Pirates. All of the Year Four children will be learning to play the Chalumeau with Mrs. Preston on a Monday.
The children will be given Literacy and Numeracy homework on a Wednesday, please ensure your child brings it back into school by the next Monday. The children will bring home spellings on Wednesday and will be tested on them the following Wednesday. Teachers in Year 4 have observed that the multiplication tables and corresponding division facts are not confident, in general, across the year group. We ask that parents spend time chanting tables and then asking random questions to reinforce work in school. We are starting as far back as the 2X table.
Please look in your child's planner book regularly for notes regarding homework and other general reminders. This is why we like the planner book to come to school every day!
We also ask for your support in expecting high standards with regard to manners.
Our aim in Year Four is to have a lot of fun!
