Reception

We have been very busy in Reception since we started in September. We are slowly adjusting to longer days at school and our dinners!  We are enjoying lots of fun activities!

Recently we have enjoyed making pizza, pasta, rice and  rockets ! We have really enjoyed playing with the Dinosaurs outside and have looked at lots of books to find out all about them!

We visited Washington Arts Centre to see Goldilocks and the Three Bears. We all enjoyed our trip. We talked and talked and talked all the way there and back on the bus. We are now looking forward to making porridge and flapjacks. We will be talking about and writing about our trip and making up our own Goldilocks stories.

These activities help us develop lots of skills in the six areas of learning. These are: Communication Language and Literacy, Mathematical Development, Knowledge and Understanding of the world, Creative Development, Physical Development and Personal, Social and Emotional Development.

Thank you to those parents / carers who joined the reading meetings. We hope you enjoyed the session and found it informative. The information / power point can be accessed below.

Future topics and trips (these are provisional and may change depending on the children's interests)

  • Fairy Tales -
  • On the stage
  • Minibeasts / water - Washington Wetlands or Rainton Meadows

During the school year we also focus on "The time of the year" and "Special Days" For example Bonfire Night, Mothers Day.
