Pupil Transfer

Children are supported at each transition stage within the Primary phase.

Transfer between Nursery and Reception is facilitated by close liaison between the staff in both areas. Children come into school for a series of visits prior to taking up their full time place in order to familiarise themselves with their new environment. There is a staggered entry to ensure that all children feel secure at the beginning of their school career.

All children spend time with their new teacher at the end of the previous Summer term. This time is spent in their new classroom so that they know what to expect the following September. At the end of Key Stage 2 there is an Parent Teacher Association Fundraising Events School Uniform Admissions Pupil Transfer established procedure to support children in the transition to their new school. Staff from the comprehensive liaise closely with the Year 6 teacher to get to know the children.

There are visits by comprehensive staff and pupils and Year 6 children have an induction day near the end of the Summer Term to give them the opportunity to experience their new school.
