Absences and Holidays

The school is legally required to record reasons for children’s absence. It is essential, for health and safety reasons, that school is informed by telephone, or letter giving the reason for absence. When a child does not arrive at the start of a school session and no notification has been received from home, parents will be contacted immediately by telephone. Children are legally allowed a maximum of two weeks holiday absence in any school year, by arrangement with the Head Teacher. It should be pointed out, however, that, wherever possible, holidays during school time should be avoided in order to ensure that your child does not miss out on important school work. Please note that no permission for absence will be given during the Statutory Testing week in May.
